Experience Matters

My story, summarized

My professional experience is the composition of more than 24 years of working across many different agencies and companies, each a story in itself. These myriad adventures provided a very diverse set of work, clients and experiences.

My story starts out in the military, followed by college, which was paid for by the aforementioned military service. During college, I worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs processing educational benefits and also ran a student veterans organization on campus that earned me a University Leadership Award (many thanks to the late Dr. Albert S. King for the sterling recommendation).

I then began my professional career in technology consulting, where I learned network engineering and worked directly with clients. From there I moved into project management and began a journey in the agency world. Again, more clients and baptism in formal project management methodology. After a few client-side roles, particularly in eCommerce, I found my true passion — agency account management. These past 21 or so years have seen ups and downs, huge brands and small, tiny to big budgets, lots and lots of travel, and some really great clients to some really not great clients.

Now I share my craft knowledge and experience with others. I’ve always enjoyed training and mentoring junior practitioners in the profession, so I’ve documented a methodology I believe is both highly effective and flexible to work across many different scenarios.
